How it Works
What Is an Affiliate?
An affiliate is a local expression of Acts of Mercy International. It is a team of volunteers with a designated leader who co-labor to effectively deploy teams during crisis.
Our Purpose
At Acts of Mercy International, we are dedicated to equipping the church to respond to crises both domestically and internationally. Here’s how we achieve this:
Train
We provide comprehensive training for volunteers and responders, utilizing the diverse gifts and professions within the local church. This prepares them to effectively address a range of crisis situations.
Send
We deploy trained responders to disaster areas. Our teams are equipped to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of affected communities, acting as the tangible hands and feet of Jesus.
Meet Needs
In crisis environments, our focus is on delivering immediate relief and support, addressing urgent needs while fostering long-term recovery.
Long-Term
Through our efforts, we aim to facilitate long term development by addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of society. This approach, aligned with Matthew 24, integrates crisis relief with a dedicated commitment to nurturing and strengthening the church.
Engagement
Utilize Church Giftings: Partnering with Acts of Mercy provides the opportunity to harness the existing skillsets and talents within your church. Some examples include:
Retired military veterans
Educators with flexible summer schedules
Construction professionals
Firefighters and search and rescue personnel
Young adults and middle-aged individuals with adaptable jobs
Prayer Warriors
AOMI creates a clear path for individuals who wish to apply their skills and serve others, making a tangible impact in crisis situations.
Local Church Unity: Creating a local affiliate fosters stronger connections among your church members. Teams composed of individuals who already know each other are more cohesive and effective in the field. Benefits include:
Enhanced teamwork and understanding of each other's giftings
Pre-trip meetings to coordinate and prepare
Increased church involvement and support for the initiative
Mutual support and debriefing after deployments
Teams will bring their impactful experiences back to your church, supporting one another in processing and pastoral care, and strengthening the overall community.
Deployments
Fundraising and Participation
Fundraising: Trips and deployments organized by a single church are expected to fundraise through that church’s resources and community support.
Annual Commitment: All affiliates are required to participate in at least one deployment per year. This could be in the form of a relief response (Phases 1-2) or a development phase response (Phases 3-4).
