Disaster Overview
On September 8, 2023, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake killed more than two thousand people in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Over the last two years, AOMI has worked exclusively with local partners in impacted villages assisting with building homes and providing heaters, livestock, and other supplies to families.
Acts of Mercy Response
In 2024, our partners focused on distributing rugs and supplies to widows, installing stoves, building toilet enclosures, and purchasing donkeys for families. Donkeys are essential for a family's income, allowing them to access markets for trading goods. Providing livestock like a donkey helps replenish lost family capital and reduces the risk of a family falling into poverty. This year, 22 stoves were built and installed, 49 donkeys were purchased, and nine toilet enclosures were constructed. Alongside these efforts, our teams prayed with 120 people, bringing not only practical aid but also the hope of the gospel.
