Israel

Disaster Overview

October 7th, 2023, was a horrific day of violence in Israel and has ignited into an ongoing war between Hamas and Israel, with rockets firing towards Israel from other groups in surrounding nations. Israel is a nation that is still home to Holocaust survivors and their descendants. The surprise attack has left many traumatized and missing loved ones who have either been killed, called up to serve in the military, or are being held hostage in Gaza. The ongoing sirens and needing to run to bomb shelters are a constant reminder that the nation is at war, while thousands still remain displaced from their homes on the Northern Border of Israel.

Acts of Mercy Response

Over the last year, AOMI has deployed eight short-term teams. Our teams have assisted in many different ways including farm work and packing food for displaced Israeli families, home visits and medical checks in Bedouin villages, investing in youth, teaching English, and sharing stories of Hope and Light. We've also organized camps for the next generation of believers, delivered 120 shelter bags for children, and taught first aid in the West Bank and Israel. Additionally, our teams have facilitated 36 home visits, led 30 youth and English clubs, provided five counseling sessions, and conducted eight Bedouin health initiative classes—bringing hope and practical aid to those in need.

Stories from the Field

“The day after Iran attacked we had three local teams out with the bedouins. One team with the girls youth english club, one team with the boys youth, and one team doing medical home visits out in the villages. We were so grateful to be able to respond and be with them after a very scary night for them. Many of the rockets were in their areas and many are without shelters. Medical team was able to pray for people in their homes, and the youth groups got to debrief the youth on what happened and how they were doing.”

“From the bottom of my heart, I wanted to thank you for the precious time you dedicated and coming to Eretz Yisrael [The Land of Israel], and to the agricultural area. Your visit was a special gift for me, full of encouragement and a deep sense of sharing and unity.”

We are responding in a wide range of ways, and the specific needs of our local partners guide how we recruit for deployments to Israel. We are so grateful for your desire to pray for, give, and go! Our team on the ground sends prayer requests out each week, and are so thankful for all who are taking the time to pray for this situation.

We are, also, so grateful for the financial contributions that have enabled us to help, support and bless. We have new projects coming up that we would love to invite you to consider giving financially to help us continue to support local partners and ministries.
