California Fires

Disaster Overview

On January 7, 2025, life changed in an instant for families in California as the Pacific Palisades Fire tore through communities, forcing thousands to flee their homes. What started as a small blaze quickly turned into a raging wildfire, fueled by drought, extreme heat, and powerful Santa Ana winds.

Homes were reduced to ashes, neighborhoods were left unrecognizable, and families faced heartbreaking losses. Firefighters and first responders worked around the clock to battle the flames, while relief teams stepped in to provide shelter, food, and comfort to those who lost everything.

Acts of Mercy Response

We are actively responding to the devastating California wildfires in the Los Angeles area. To date, more than 50 responders have assisted over 40 families through Ash-Out operations, working in partnership with Samaritan’s Purse to recover valuables, validate losses and memories, and begin the daunting process of closure and starting anew. We have also provided vital trauma, emotional, and spiritual care to hundreds of individuals through therapists and counselors at the LA Fire Resource Hub and Pasadena Convention Center. A new mobile medical clinic has been established in the heart of the Pasadena wildfire zone. Local teams, many of whom are survivors of the fires themselves, have helped distribute thousands of meals and essential supplies to affected families while praying and being present.

How You Can Help
